Water Exercise
At Progress PT, our aquatic pool therapy is designed specifically for patients who cannot tolerate on-the-ground-based exercise. Often, patients who utilize aquatic therapy gradually improve to above-ground training.
The pool offers several benefits to patients with above-average pain or injury including improved circulation, relaxed muscles, elevated buoyancy, and low-impact training aimed to increase muscle, flexibility, and range of motion. Each patient undertaking aquatic therapy receives a personalized therapy regimen that can be customized according to underwater treadmill speed, jets for resistive movements, water level, and water temperature. In addition to each individual’s therapy treatment, our staff accompanies all patients during aquatic routines, ensuring proper procedure and maximization of therapy goals.
Aquatic therapy is best suited for patients suffering from musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular/pulmonary, and integumentary diseases, disorders, or conditions. Using the pool helps to improve or maintain function, aerobic capacity, endurance conditioning, balance, coordination, agility, body mechanics, postural stabilization, flexibility, gait and locomotion, relaxation, muscle strength, power, and endurance.
